Well-Woman & Gynecology · Insurance accepted

The exam that actually takes its time.

Annual well-woman exams and everyday gynecologic care from a board-certified OB/GYN team — unhurried visits, with your whole health in the picture rather than just the checklist.

We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna, which cover most office visits, including well-woman visits and hormone consultations.

1 · Why it matters

Fifteen minutes is not an annual exam

Most women have had the version where the whole thing is over before you have finished describing why you came. You get through the checklist, someone says everything looks fine, and the three things you had actually been meaning to ask about never come up.

That is the visit we deliberately do not run. An annual here is scheduled with enough time to have a conversation — because the things that turn out to matter most are usually the ones a woman mentions almost as an afterthought, on the way out the door.

Sleep that stopped working. Periods that changed. Intimacy that became uncomfortable. Mood that no longer matches the week. A body that responds differently to the same effort. These are not separate from your gynecologic health, and in a practice built around hormone medicine they are exactly the right things to raise.

2 · What it covers

What an annual visit includes

The standard preventive care, done properly, plus the room to talk about anything else.

The preventive basicsPap testing and cervical cancer screening on the appropriate schedule, pelvic and breast examination, and referral for mammography where it is due.
Contraception and family planningA full and neutral conversation about options — we are independent and physician-owned, and our clinical decisions are not governed by any outside institution's directives.
Periods and pelvic symptomsHeavy, painful, irregular or changed bleeding, pelvic pain, and the things women are often told to simply live with.
Menopause and perimenopauseThis is the center of our practice, so your annual is a natural place to start that conversation rather than a separate appointment.
Bladder and pelvic floorLeaking, urgency and the after-effects of childbirth. Common, treatable, and rarely raised unless someone asks.
Results you actually hear aboutWe follow up with you personally, rather than leaving you to chase a portal message.

3 · Practical things

Insurance, new patients and how to book

Most office visits here are covered by insurance, including well-woman care and hormone consultations.

  • Well-woman and routine gynecologic visits are covered with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna, and so are hormone consultations. A few services, like medical weight loss, peptides and the pellet procedure, are cash-pay. Bring your card and we verify the details for you.
  • We are welcoming new patients — no referral needed.
  • Your history is completed at home through the patient portal, so your appointment is a conversation rather than a clipboard.
  • Same building on South Burnside for twenty-one years, in Gonzales, serving Ascension Parish and the surrounding area.

Book the appointment you keep meaning to book.

Call the office and we will find you a time. If you are new to us, we will work out what kind of visit you actually need first.

4 · Common questions

Questions about well-woman care

What happens at a well-woman exam?

Preventive care done properly — Pap testing and cervical screening on the appropriate schedule, pelvic and breast examination, and mammography referral where it is due — plus time to talk about anything else. Periods, contraception, menopause, bladder symptoms and intimacy all belong in that conversation.

How often should I have one?

Annually for most women, though screening intervals for things like Pap testing vary with your age and history. Your provider will tell you what applies to you rather than applying one rule to everybody.

Is my annual exam covered by insurance?

Well-woman and routine gynecologic visits are covered with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna, and so are hormone consultations. A few services, like medical weight loss, peptides and the pellet procedure, are cash-pay. Bring your card and we verify everything before your appointment.

Do I need to be an existing patient?

No — we are welcoming new patients and no referral is needed. Start with a call to the office or the request form and we will get you scheduled.

Can I talk about hormones at my annual visit?

Please do. Menopause and hormone care are the heart of this practice, so your annual is a perfectly natural place to start that conversation rather than booking something separate.

Do you provide contraception counselling?

Yes, fully and neutrally. We are independent and physician-owned — named for Ascension Parish, not owned or managed by any hospital system or corporate entity — so our clinical decisions are made by our own providers together with our patients.

What if something needs a closer look?

We handle what we can in-house and coordinate anything beyond that. Either way we follow up with you personally about results rather than leaving you to find them yourself.

How long is the appointment?

Long enough to actually talk. That is a deliberate scheduling choice rather than a promise we make and then run late on.
