Lab Testing · Gonzales & statewide

Lab work, made easy — statewide.

Drawn here in our Gonzales office, at LabCorp (our preferred lab), or at any lab you choose. Reviewed properly by the provider who ordered them, and explained to you in plain language.

1 · Why they matter

A number is not a diagnosis

Labs are how a hormone conversation becomes specific. Without them you are guessing; with them, dosing can be built for you rather than applied to you.

But a lab report on its own decides very little. Reference ranges are wide, they are drawn from a general population rather than from you, and it is entirely possible to sit inside a normal range and feel nothing like yourself. Women hear “your labs are normal” and are sent home with the same symptoms they walked in with more often than anyone would like.

So we read them alongside your history and your symptoms, not instead of them. If your numbers look fine and you still feel wrong, that is information — it means we look further rather than concluding there is nothing to find.

2 · How it works

Getting your labs done

Deliberately low-friction, because the draw should never be the reason someone puts this off.

Drawn here in GonzalesMany labs are done in our own office at 1943 S. Burnside Avenue, at the same visit where possible.

3 · What gets checked

What is usually on the list

It depends entirely on why you came in, and your provider decides what is worth checking rather than working from a standard panel. In broad terms:

  • Hormones — the relevant sex hormones for your symptoms and stage of life, whether that is menopause, perimenopause or low testosterone.
  • Thyroid — because thyroid problems imitate hormone problems closely enough to be worth ruling out before treating anything.
  • Metabolic markers — particularly where weight, energy or medication decisions are part of the picture.
  • Anything your history points at — the reason we take an unhurried history in the first place.
  • Follow-up bloodwork — where treatment has started, checking is part of the treatment rather than an optional extra.

Bring what you already have.

If another clinic has drawn labs recently, send them over before your visit — it often saves you a needle and it always saves time.

4 · Common questions

Questions about lab testing

Where do I get my labs drawn?

Many are drawn right here in our Gonzales office, often at the same visit. If you are a video patient or simply live closer to somewhere else, we send the order to LabCorp, our preferred lab, or to any lab you choose.

Do I need labs before my first visit?

Usually not. Most people start with a conversation, and labs are ordered from there where they would genuinely change the plan. There is no exam and no bloodwork needed simply to get started.

Can I use labs from another clinic?

Very often, yes. Recent results from elsewhere frequently mean you do not need to repeat anything. Send or bring them before your appointment so your provider can look at them properly.

What gets tested?

It depends on why you came in. Typically the sex hormones relevant to your symptoms, thyroid — because thyroid problems imitate hormone problems closely — and metabolic markers where weight or medication decisions are involved. We order what will change the plan rather than a long panel for its own sake.

My labs came back normal but I still feel terrible. What now?

Then we keep looking. Reference ranges are wide and drawn from a general population rather than from you, so it is entirely possible to sit inside 'normal' and feel nothing like yourself. Normal labs plus real symptoms is information, not a dead end.

Who reviews my results?

The provider who ordered them, which is how anyone notices a trend across time. You are told what they mean for you in plain language rather than handed a printout.

How quickly will I hear back?

We follow up with you personally rather than leaving you to chase a portal message. Timing depends on the test, and your provider will tell you what to expect when they order it.

Do you have to fast?

For some tests yes, for many no, and some are best drawn at a particular time of day. You will be told exactly what applies to your order — nobody should turn up guessing.

Are labs covered by insurance?

Lab billing depends on your plan and on which tests are ordered, and it is billed by the lab rather than by us. We answer cost questions plainly during your free consultation, and we will tell you what we know before anything is ordered.
