1 · Why men come in
The symptoms men actually turn up with
Almost nobody arrives saying “I think my testosterone is low.” What men describe is flatter than that, and usually they have been putting up with it for a while before saying anything.
Tiredness that sleep does not fix. Drive that has quietly gone — at work as much as at home. Motivation that used to be automatic and now has to be manufactured. Weight settling around the middle despite no change in effort. Strength that has stopped responding to training. A shorter fuse than you used to have, or a mood that has simply gone grey.
Any of these can be low testosterone. Several of them can also be thyroid, sleep apnoea, depression, medication side effects or something else entirely — which is why the first job is finding out rather than prescribing.
2 · The honest version
Symptoms raise the question. A blood test answers it.
This is the part that separates real testosterone care from the subscription model, so it is worth being direct about it.
Low testosterone is a diagnosis made on bloodwork, not on a questionnaire and not on how you feel on a given morning. Levels move through the day, which is why the draw is timed, and why a single borderline number is not the end of the conversation.
- We check testosterone alongside the related markers, because the number on its own rarely tells the whole story.
- If your levels are normal and you still feel terrible, that matters — it means we look elsewhere rather than treating you anyway.
- If testosterone therapy is started, it is monitored. Follow-up bloodwork is part of the treatment, not an optional extra.
- Recent labs from another clinic often count, so you may not need to repeat anything.
3 · How we work
Why men end up here rather than at a TRT clinic
A fair number of our male patients have already tried an online testosterone service. What they say they were missing is consistent.
4 · Getting started
Four steps, and no exam to begin
Men often put this off because they assume it starts with something uncomfortable. It does not.
- A callRing the office or use the request form. Nothing personal needed at this stage.
- History at homeFilled in through the portal in your own time, straight into your chart.
- Labs and a conversationA blood draw here in Gonzales, at LabCorp (our preferred lab), or at any lab you choose, then a proper review of what it shows — in person at your first visit, by video after that.
- Treatment, then follow-upIf therapy is right, we start it and we monitor it. If it is not, we tell you what we think is actually going on.
Most men wait far longer than they needed to.
A call costs nothing and takes a few minutes. Worst case, you find out your levels are fine and we go looking for the real answer.
5 · Common questions
What men ask us
How do I know if I have low testosterone?
A blood test. Symptoms raise the question — fatigue, low drive, poor sleep, stubborn weight, mood changes — but bloodwork answers it. We check your testosterone alongside the related markers and go through the results with you plainly, including what they do not show.
What are the symptoms of low testosterone in men?
Most commonly: tiredness that sleep does not resolve, loss of drive at work and at home, weight settling around the middle, strength that has stopped responding to training, poor sleep, low mood or a shorter temper. None of these are specific to testosterone on their own, which is exactly why we test rather than assume.
Do I need an exam to get started?
No. You fill in your history at home through the portal, then we arrange bloodwork and a conversation about what it shows. Men frequently delay this because they assume it begins with something uncomfortable — it does not.
What if my levels come back normal?
Then we do not treat you with testosterone, and we go looking for what is actually causing it. Thyroid, sleep apnoea, medication effects, metabolic issues and depression all produce a similar picture. Being told your levels are fine is a useful result, not a wasted visit.
Injections or pellets — which do you recommend?
Both are effective, and the choice is yours after a thorough discussion with your provider. Pellets are placed in a short in-office visit a few times a year and need nothing in between — no weekly shot to remember, and steadier levels than a periodic injection. Injections stay on the table when you prefer them or your provider recommends them. Your provider talks through the trade-offs with you.
Is testosterone therapy safe?
It carries both benefits and some uncommon side effects, and which way that falls depends on your age, your history and what your bloodwork shows. Both sides get discussed at your visit, and ongoing monitoring is part of the treatment rather than an optional extra. Our job is accuracy, not reassurance.
How is this different from an online TRT clinic?
You have a physician-led practice, the same familiar team each visit, monitoring that is actually scheduled and reviewed, and someone looking at thyroid, sleep and metabolic health rather than testosterone in isolation. A subscription that mails you a vial is a different product.
Can I do TRT by telehealth?
Follow-up care, yes. Your first visit is in person in Gonzales — testosterone is a controlled medication, and we like to meet new patients properly. After that, lab review and ongoing monitoring work well by secure video anywhere in Louisiana, with labs drawn at LabCorp (our preferred lab) or any lab you choose. Pellet insertions are done at our Gonzales office.
Do you offer TRT for men in Baton Rouge and Prairieville?
Yes — a good number. Gonzales is a straightforward drive from most of the area, and after your first visit, anything that does not need you physically present can be done by video.
Is testosterone therapy covered by insurance?
Testosterone consultations and follow-up office visits are covered with Blue Cross Blue Shield or Aetna. If you choose pellets, the insertion procedure itself is cash-pay. Every cost question is answered plainly during your free consultation before you commit to anything.
