Weight Loss & Wellness
“The goal is to educate patients on food and how it impacts their health. My staff and I are committed to providing our patients with the support and encouragement they need for successful weight loss resulting from a lifestyle change.” Jason D. Adams M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
The term overweight applies to anyone with a BMI (Body Mass Index) greater than 25, obesity applies to anyone with a BMI greater than 30, and over 40 is considered morbidly obese.
By far, the #1 threat to this country’s health is the medical problems that are caused by obesity, including diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, arthritis, sleep apnea, acid reflux, and many forms of cancer. But obesity is really just a symptom of the underlying disease – poor nutrition. 70% of U.S. adults are now overweight or obese. Just 25 years ago, that number was only 20%. What happened?
Dr. Adams himself was one of the millions affected. Traditional medical training provided little teaching on nutrition and wellness. But after extensive study and research, Dr. Adams did indeed figure out not only “what happened” but “why.” He implemented strategies based on the information he found in his research, and in a few short months, was 50 pounds lighter and in his best physical condition since high school (including an 8 year stint in the U.S. Air Force.)
Dr. Adams explains, “The #1 and #2 goals of our program are to Feel Better and Be Healthy – weight loss is just the expected side effect of the proper choices in regards to healthy eating and an active lifestyle. The program I follow daily and help my patients implement is truly about bringing nutrition back to the basics. Not only has the program allowed me to become and stay fit, I’ve also been able to take many patients off diabetes, cholesterol and high blood pressure medication after a few months of treatment. ”
Patients have been successful with both short AND long term weight loss because of the program’s simple process. The program offers: comprehensive nutrition education, our very own Back to the Basics dietary program, accountability and support, and (when indicated based on one’s B.M.I.) the use of safe, effective, FDA approved medications proven to assist in making the dietary and lifestyle changes leading to weight loss and life-long wellness.
“We really feel like we give our patients a new outlook on life. Once they are healthy and full of confidence, then they go out and encourage others in their path.”
